The first step of everything is preparing the yarn. Which will include winding a skein, scouring, mordanting, dyeing and washing. Before this I would have either spent
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Devon Olney
I design and create a variety of textile products and materials, with goals to begin a blog so more people can learn about textiles and gain interest in beginning a craft themselves.
The woven and knit pieces I create are designed to be as sustainable as possible, my work focuses on regenerative practices

More about me...
I am an artist based in Gloucestershire.
During my time studying Art and Design at SGS College I became increasingly interested in textiles and sustainability. This lead me to try a weaving course with Rebecca Connelly
I'm incredibly passionate about traditional crafts, I try to learn and utilise them whenever I can.
I am now a natural dyer, spinner, weaver and knitter.
Using regenerative materials is the most important aspect of everything I do.
I create and sell woven pieces of art(which are often wearable), plant dyed yarns and starting to produce knitted goods.
I hope to one day teach workshops to share these valuable skills.

"I believe wool to be one of the best, most versatile natural materials,
of which is becoming increasingly underused.
Even the most "scratchy" and "itchy" wool has a purpose to serve."

My Mission
To create art that is both functional and sustainable. I want the pieces and materials I create and use to one day rest in the ground and not just cause minimal impact, but to benefit soil and plant health.
(which wool does.)
My Values
I strive to use local and British suppliers. It would not be a sustainable practice if it had to fly to me.
To also try and avoid wool from unethical farming environments.
